Which aquarium snail is right for your tank?

Snails are useful helpers in a freshwater aquarium: they eat algae and leftover food and keep glass and decoration clean. We offer three groups.

  • Assassin snail (Clea helena) — keeps pest snails such as bladder and ramshorn snails under control and leaves plants alone. Suitable for most community tanks at 22–28 °C.
  • Orange Tylomelania (Poso snail) — a striking snail from Lake Poso on Sulawesi with a bright orange body. Needs warm water of 26–30 °C and a pH above 7. Also available: Tylomelania Choco.
  • Clithon sp. Fancy Pink — a small, colourful algae eater for glass, stones and leaves. Its white eggs do not hatch in fresh water, so the snails never take over your tank.
