Easy aquarium plants for every tank

All our plants were chosen for their hardiness: low to medium light is enough, they need no CO2 injection and grow slowly, without frequent trimming. They suit a community aquarium as well as a nano tank or a shrimp tank.

  • Anubias — thick, dark green leaves, almost indestructible. They are attached to a root or a stone. Available varieties: Anubias nana, Anubias nana Gold, Coin Leaf, Congensis and Hastifolia.
  • Java fern (Microsorum pteropus) — light foliage that quickly forms a bush, in the classic version or Minor, more compact for small tanks.
  • Mosses — a green carpet for the aquascape and a perfect refuge for shrimp and fry: ready-to-place moss on bark, Erect Moss in vitro, Taiwan moss and Christmas moss.
  • [Marimo balls](/products/cladophora-ball-aegagropila-linnaei) (Aegagropila linnaei) — ball-shaped green algae, very easy and decorative.

How to plant Anubias and Java fern

These plants grow on a rhizome that must not be buried: under the sand it rots. Instead, attach them to a root, a stone or a decoration with fishing line or an aquarium-safe gel glue; their roots will grip on their own within a few weeks. This way they grow on any substrate, even in a tank without nutrient soil.

Plants and shrimp: the perfect pair

Plants give shrimp shelter and food: biofilm and micro-organisms develop on leaves and mosses. In vitro plants are grown in a lab in a sterile medium: they arrive without snails or unwanted algae. Simply rinse other plants before putting them in the aquarium. Discover our aquarium shrimp too.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need CO2 or nutrient soil?
No. Anubias, Java fern, mosses and Marimo grow without CO2 or special fertiliser, under low to medium light.
How do I plant an Anubias?
Do not bury the rhizome. Attach the plant to a root or stone with thread or an aquarium-safe gel glue; its roots will grip within a few weeks.
Are the plants suitable for a shrimp tank?
Yes, they offer shelter and natural food. In vitro plants arrive without snails or algae; rinse the others before putting them in the tank.
How do I care for a Marimo ball?
Fairly cool water, indirect light and, now and then, a gentle roll so it keeps its round shape. Rinse it in aquarium water if it gets dirty.
What if a plant arrives damaged?
Contact us within 2 hours of delivery with clear photos: we offer a replacement, store credit or a refund.
